The only thing that is getting me through this cold and sorrowful winter is knowing that summer is in a few months.
To me, it’s the best time of year: no school, UV of 10, beach all day with friends, my birthday, and the best part: no responsibilities. No rushing to go anywhere, not being at anyone’s beck and call, no curfew (sometimes), just relaxing.
Last summer was amazing—one of my favorite summers yet. In June, field hockey started and school got out. July: summer tournaments, the fourth of July, concerts, going out every day. August: vacations, long beach days, my birthday, LBI trips.
This summer, I know, is going to be even better than last summer. Most of my friends have their licenses now, so we don’t have to worry about rides, and I’ll get mine at the end of the summer. I’m also not doing travel softball this summer, so my weekends will be more free.
However, I’m working multiple jobs to afford a car, so I’ll be there most of the time. My favorite part of the summer is the beach. There’s nothing like sitting on the beach and eating Playa Bowls with all of your favorite people around you. Getting knocked over by huge waves, going to see the sunrise, and not leaving till sunset. The opportunities in summer are endless.
Another thing I love doing in the summer is going to the boardwalk. Riding your bike up and down, walking to get overpriced coffee, going on rides.
As I dream about summer coming, all I can think of are about the memories ready to be made. My boss shares my opinion of summer. He said he loves it “because he can exercise on the beach, go to the boardwalk at Seaside or Ocean Gate, and walk the boardwalk in the morning before work.” He also loves getting Playa Bowls, specifically a Nutella bowl. Summer is also his favorite because he gets the most business and loves the company of his favorite employee, me, of course!
