April’s over, and we’re well into Spring. But you know what they say: April showers bring May flowers, and it’s the first of May! So, because of that, how about we take a look at a few flowers that you may find to be pleasing to the eyes?
The Sacred Lotus
As you may have figured out by the name, this flower is a religious symbol—specifically in Buddhism and Hinduism—for rising above adversity and reaching enlightenment, shown by how it is able bloom beautifully even in muddy waters. But even if you don’t believe in that, you can still appreciate how it looks! the way the white gradually turns into a pink (or is it purple?) the further you get to the tip of its petals makes for a nice gradient-like effect.
Lavender
These flowers are just the right tint of purple to remind me of a cozy blanket, and the way fields of them can eventually turn into stripes of purple and green also makes for a nice color scheme. If that wasn’t enough, the scent of these flowers is known to help people calm down, which is why it is used in essential oils and body scrubs. A relaxing sight in more ways than one!
The Mr. Lincoln Rose
This plant was named to honor the sixteenth president of the United States of America, Abraham Lincoln; if you look at it long enough, you could probably understand why. The deep red and velvety texture of its petals almost make it look like a bed to sleep on (Put that with some lavender, ha ha!), and since Lincoln was actually quite associated with the color red—likely because he was a member of the Republican party—it actually make sense why this flower was specifically picked. He helped to end slavery in the U.S., after all!
