The newest addition to Central Regional clubs is esports.
Esports is a thrilling and exciting place for all lovers of video games.
It consists of numerous competitions where students from across the country compete against other schools in a variety of different games. Some of these titles include Overwatch, Rocket League, and Splatoon 3.
Garden State Esports (GSE), the league for all New Jersey esports, is the holding body for all competitions here in the state. They have officially added CRHS to their ranks, and soon enough, the club will be competing against other schools.
Right now, as the winter season rolls in, spirits are high as the newfound players here at Central have started to hone their skills and prepare for upcoming matches. And for a little insight on the members of the club, here we have a couple of words from the coach of CRHS Esports, Mr. Neuhaus! “Esports at Central Regional is exactly what we need in this day and age. An embrace of the new, highlighting possibility, and offering opportunity. Esports will be in our futures; even colleges are seeing it now, and someday it will be as common as basketball. The amount of effort that goes into being good at games is no different than other sports, and it should be respected as the unique skill set that it is. I am happy to have started this club with 4 amazing students and hope to see this grow to be a cornerstone of the CR culture.”
Esports meets in the media center most days after school. All are welcome.
