We are offered so many opportunities this year for field trips to learn and experience so much.
In the Discover Club, we explore and learn
a lot about the world. We might learn about different cultures, how to travel safely, or how to plan for our futures. We have visited some great colleges to broaden our experiences in order to figure out what we would like to do with our future.
Examples of trips we took were to tour colleges such as Princeton and Stockton. We also had the privilege of visiting New York City this year.
This NYC trip was fascinating and everyone had tons of fun. Our itinerary includ-
ed going to Rockefeller Center Tree, Bryant Park, Chelsea Market, walking the High Line, and Times Square.
We left early Saturday morning and took a bus from Central Regional to New York City. We were able to take a ferry ride across the river to get into Manhattan. This was very thrilling and we even could spot the Statue of Liberty from the ferry.
After the ferry, we walked across the High Line. It felt as if we were walking over the whole city. We arrived at Chelsea Market and were told to explore for ourselves and see what they had to offer. There were so many food spots to sit down and eat while shopping. My friends and I decided to get gelato. It was delicious! We then looked at the shops and little vendors, my favorite was the bookstore.
Next, we went to Times Square. The tall buildings with all of the billboards were spectacular.
Then we walked to Bryant Park. It was packed full of people and there were shops everywhere. My friends and I went to the Cheese Wheel and got pasta to eat, then we got edible cookie dough at a vendor right next to it. There was a big ice rink and water fountain next to it so we sat and watched people skate.
Our last destination was Rockefeller Tree. It was really busy so we didn’t get too close to the tree but everyone took pictures and enjoyed the sight.
For some people, this was their first time in New York City. I asked one of the students, Angela Mellillo, what their favorite part of the trip was, and her response was “I really liked walking in Bryant Park, I also liked being with my friends”. This trip was a great experience for the students at Central Regional High School.
