If you’re a student who cares about the community and loves to help others, then Key Club is perfect for you! CRHS Key Club emphasizes helping others and giving back to the community, whether it be through donations or volunteering. Key Club has helped give back to the community, especially at the local level.
Most of the main events Key Club organizes directly affect current or future Central students. Key Club has the tradition of making a Garnet and Gold tree every year, as well as preparing Christmas gifts for Central students in low-income families. There is also an annual Key Club movie trip where club members go to the movies with younger students at Hugh J. Boyd Elementary School, many of whom have never gone to the movie theater before. In the Spring, Key Club runs the Key Club Prom (now the Key Club Luau) – a dance for special needs students at Central.
Key Club also plays a role in the community outside of school. Key Club has a trip to Crystal Lake nursing home and rehabilitation center on November 30th, where students will visit patients and residents. Key Club has also participated in several beach cleanups at Seaside Heights.
For those with an interest in community involvement as well as those looking to expand their resume, Key Club is the perfect addition due to the volunteering opportunities and compassionate nature of the club.
Key Club’s next meeting will be Wednesday, December 13th in the presentation room, where club members will work on holiday packages and the Garnet & Gold tree. Although official membership forms and annual dues were collected November 1st, all students are still welcome to attend!
