Are you interested in getting involved in your community? Are you looking for volunteering opportunities? Are you in search of a fun and exciting club? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then consider joining Central Regional’s Habitat for Humanity Club.
The Habitat for Humanity Club is an extracurricular right here at our school that opens students up to new volunteering opportunities in their community. Technical Drawing Teacher Mr. O’Keefe, a long-time volunteer and contributor to the community, is the advisor of the club and, along with his student executives, helps get members involved in local activities in many ways, such as going on field trips.
In the 2023-2024 school year, the club has already had two field trips with anticipation for many more throughout the rest of the school year. Just the other day, November 17th, students went on a field trip for the day to the organization’s local office and got some time outside of the classroom to participate in a volunteering opportunity to help the community.
Members attending helped out in a hands-on building activity to create elements of a new community center and garden. While on the trip, students were also given the opportunity to meet some of the major members and contributors to the local organization as well as were graciously given a tour of the facility and were provided lunch. Overall, the Habitat for Humanity Club is a great way for students to get involved and have fun building friendships, learning more about their community and how they can contribute to it.
