Roaming Reporter: The Costumes of Central

We had another great Halloween at Central this year! Many students wore bold costumes to really get into the spirit of Halloween, but there were some costumes that stood out to me. I interviewed a of these people during the school day.

Me: What is your name and grade?

Nico: Nico Gomez and I’m a senior.

Me: What are you dressed up as?

Nico: Well, it’s supposed to be a person riding an ostrich, but it’s a flamingo. 

Me: What was your inspiration for wearing this costume today?

Nico: I saw it at the store. 

Me: How long did it take you to put on the costume this morning? 

Nico: 5 minutes.

Me: What is your name and grade?

Samantha: Samantha Sicknick, grade 12.

Me: What are you dressed up as?

Samantha: I am a crayon box.

Me: What was your inspiration for dressing up as a crayon box?

Samantha: I just felt like crayons can give a lot. They can make colors and pictures. I just thought that maybe if I wore a crayon box I could do the same thing.

Me: Where’d you find your costume?

Samantha: I’ve had it since I was 9 or 6–somewhere in that area. 

Me: How long did it take you to put on the costume this morning?

Samantha: It took me about 13.6 seconds.

Me; What is your name and grade?

Milo: My name is Milo and I’m in grade 11.

Me: What are you dressed up as?

Milo: My costume is a pumpkin.

Me: What was your inspiration for wearing this costume today?

Milo: Honestly, nothing besides being bored. I had too much time on my hands. 

Me: How long did it take you to get this all together this morning?

Milo: Around 2.5 hours. 

Me: Where’d you get the shoes? I really want to know where you got the shoes from. 

Milo: They’re from a company called Why Are You. The shoes were, like, $150.00. Worth it.

Me: Okay, thank you!

Milo actually won “Scariest Costume” in the costume contest!

Roman: Hi, my name is Roman Velez and I’m in 10th grade. 

Me: What are you dressed up as today?

Roman: I’m a maid. I’m supposed to be Ghostface but I left the mask in my bag because we’re not allowed to wear masks.

Me: What was your inspiration for wearing this costume?

Roman: Because I look hot in it. Like, look at my legs. 

Me: How long did it take you to put on the costume this morning?

Roman: I’m gonna say, like, a solid 10-20 minutes. I had to put on the tights, and I also had to find the right boots. 

Me: Where’d you get the costume from?

Roman: Amazon.

Grace: Grace, 12th.

Me: What are you dressed up as today?

Grace: Corey Cunningham from Halloween Ends

Me: How long did it take you to put on the costume this morning?

Grace: Like, 5 min.

Me: Including the makeup?

Grace: Makeup didn’t take very long. Roman actually did it for me. It took like 10 minutes. 

Me: What was your inspiration for wearing this costume?

Grace: You know, I really like the character from the movie, and it was last minute, too. So I just put it all together.

Corey: Corey, I’m in 10th.

Me: What are you dressed up as today?

Corey: Dustin from Stranger Things, but Vecna got him. 

Me: What was your inspiration for wearing this costume?

Corey: I read a fanfiction.

Me: How long did it take you to put on the costume this morning?

Corey: 2 minutes?

Me: Where’d you get all the parts of your costume?

Corey: The undershirt I got for my birthday. The hat and the overshirt I got from Walmart.

Parker: Parker Miller and 12th grade.

Me: What are you dressed up as today?

Parker: I am The Weeknd.

Me: What was your inspiration for wearing this costume?

Parker: A TikTok that I saw. I saw a TikTok, and this girl was dressed up as The Weeknd from his After Hours album, and I decided “Why not?”

Me: How long did it take you to put on the costume this morning?

Parker: The makeup took about probably 30 minutes. The costume was easy to put on–like 5 min for that. 

Me: Where’d you get all the parts of your costume?

Parker: The red jacket my dad bought me for Christmas two years ago. It’s been sitting in my closet forever so I was, like, “Oh, I’ll use that.” And then the shoes, I got them from Primark. They’re platform heels. And everything else I got from Forever 21.

Haeven: Haeven Conover, and I’m in 12th grade.

Me: What are you dressed up as today?

Haeven: I’m a cowboy.

Me: What was your inspiration for wearing this costume?

Haeven: Honestly, I didn’t have a costume at home, and I didn’t feel like buying one. I already had a cowboy hat, so I figured “Why not?”

Me: How long did it take you to put on the costume this morning?

Haeven: The costume itself didn’t take long. It was actually the makeup that took a little bit. So, probably, like, 20 minutes.

Abby: Abby, I’m a junior.

Me: What are you dressed up as today?

Abby: A pirate.

Me: What was your inspiration for wearing this costume?

Abby: I saw it on Pinterest.

Me: How long did it take you to put on the costume this morning?

Abby: Like, 15 minutes.

Me: Where’d you get the parts of your costume from?

Abby: Shein, Junior’s, Amazon, and Romwe.

Gianna: Gianna Enoch. I’m a tenth grader.

Me: What are you dressed up as? 

Gianna: I am Sister Sam from Spongebob.

Me: What was your inspiration for wearing this costume?

Gianna: Everybody says that I look like Sister Sam, so I just decided to dress up as her.

Me: How long did it take you to put on this costume, and how long did it take you to make it?

Gianna: To put it on, like, 5 minutes. But to make it, it took, like, 2 days.

Sara: Half Hades and Persephone.

Me: What was your inspiration for wearing this costume today?

Sara: Greek mythology.

Sara: Maybe, like, 2 hours?

Me: How much of the costume did you make by yourself?

Sara: Yeah, I made all of it.

Me: How long did it take to make?

Sara: 3 weeks.
